The Mandriva development team this morning made available the second release candidate for its Linux 2009 Spring release. Codenamed Estephe, RC2 includes a number of desktop enhancements including KDE 4.2.2, Gnome 2.26. kernel 2.6.29 and X.org server 1.6. While RC1 shipped with the initial phase of Speedboot, a project to speed up the booting process, RC2 includes phase 2 of the project and is available by default in this release.
Mandriva Spring 2009 RC is available in a range of formats including a DVD edition for 32-bit and 64-bit x86 systems, a choice of KDE or Gnome edition for x86-32 systems, and an ISO for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
These editions are shipped without any proprietary software. There is also a live edition which includes proprietary drivers.
